About Me
Hi, I’m Alena. I’ve been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching for more than 12 years.
My yoga journey began as a personal search for health and balance. Over time, it became my profession and life’s work. In 2015, I founded Yogalena.ru, a yoga studio in Kazan, Russia, which I directed and taught at for more than eight years. The studio continues to operate successfully today.
In 2022, I moved to the United States and began a new chapter of my journey — building a life and teaching practice in a new country. After arriving, I taught group classes at Sun & Moon Yoga Studio in Arlington and Skin and Wellness in Falls Church.
Now I have opened my own small home studio in the basement of my house, where I currently teach small group (6 people) and private sessions for 1-3 people.
I continue to study and grow as a teacher because yoga is a lifelong learning process.

My teaching style
My classes are based on the Iyengar Yoga tradition. For me, what matters is precision, depth, and understanding what is happening in your body — not just performing poses.
I use props to make the practice safe and accessible, and I always adapt each pose to the individual.
We don’t chase the shape of a pose. What matters is not how it looks, but how it works — through attention, alignment, and body awareness.
Classes are held at a comfortable room temperature (never hot yoga) and are designed to build strength, stability, and a deeper understanding of your body.
Certification & Training
I am an internationally certified yoga teacher.
I trained at the Yoga Practice Federation, as well as at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune — one of the most respected yoga institutes in the world.
2013–2016 — Yoga Practice Federation, Moscow
2018 — International Certification, Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, Pune
I continue to refine and deepen my practice through ongoing study and professional development.
